Stacking bowls

Stacking bowls present some unique challenges to the potter. I’ve not quite mastered the method of making them all line up height wise, but I can get them to neatly fit inside one another. I quite like the artichoke-ness of them!

The bowl set above has been glazed with a glossy nuka glaze – which is a mixture of ash, feldspar and quartz fired in a gas kiln to around 1200c

The bowls below have been glazed with a tenmoku glaze (a high iron glaze), with an extra dip of nuka on the rim. The nuka is very fluid and this creates the dramatic streaking.
